Aerial View of the Taj Mahal some 50 years back

Aerial View of Taj Mahal some 50 years back

A couple of months back, an email was doing rounds on the web-world questioning the authenticity of the Taj Mahal being originally built by the famous Mughal emperor- Shah Jehan.

The mail argued through illustrations of one Prof. Oak that this beautiful structure (which proudly boasts of being India's entry into the SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD ~~~ that too in both the versions of philosophies ~ the ancient one as well as the recently concluded modern one!) was once an ancient Hindu temple palace of Lord Shiva known as "Tejo Mahalaya". The mail goes on saying that Shah Jehan had in fact usurped this temple palace from the then Maharaja of Jaipur, Maharaja Jai Singh.

Though the genuineness of the either the mail or the content is still a point of debate, the pictures that made part of the mail were unique. They had been captured some 50 odd years back and are in black & white / sepia tones.

I'm taking the liberty to share one of its pictures ~ the aerial snapshot ~ of this magnificent structure, known to all of us today as THE TAJ MAHAL!

[PS: In case you haven't come across such an email arguing the genuineness of Taj Mahal as originally built by Shah Jehan, send a request mail to admin.blogs4cause@gmail.com. We'll forward you a copy.]
